So there I was at the lab, minding my own business when all of a sudden I decided to open the Command Shell so I can make a MEL script. Suddenly, Maya crashes, and immediately I remember that I didn't save it in 30mins. *gulps*
I open the last file, asks me for the path name of my reference rigs, and this happens. The same thing happens to MOST of my previous files. I do have one where I can start off again, and it's not a HUGE loss, but if anyone knows how to get around this problem, I would appreciate it if you let me know. Will give cookies!
Thanks guys!
Mary :)

The only fix I've found for this is a temporary one. open File>Optimize Scene Size by clicking on the option box. Check only "Unused Skin influences". This will get everything looking normal again. The next time you reopen the scene, everything is screwy again.
Ultimately you'll want to build a fresh scene with 2 Morphys, reference in your animation and copy the animation over to the new rigs.
Thanks David! It helps, but will definitely set up a new scene just to stop having this issue. :)
So I may have found a partial solution to this issue. I opened my file today to have it randomly doing the same thing on one of my referenced characters. As usual when I have a specific problem in Maya 2012 I couldn't find a solution. So I messed around in the channel box, and when I went to the option for "body type", I changed it from "reg" to "parts". I then clicked on the "key selected" in the channel box menu and now my rig looks normal again. My other referenced Morphy rig is set to regular and isn't having issues so I dont know what happened. Just thought I'd share in case anyone else has this happen.
