It looks like he's hitting the ball forward instead. Add some ease in as he makes contact with the ball, even one frame would help.
The eye blink also matches the jump, which makes it seem too synchronized. Add some offset to that, and maybe make one eye blink 1 frame faster. (that's called the Pixar blink)

Looks great! maybe exaggerate the second jump or reduce the first one.
